Jakub Janovský

24/05/2017 - 16/06/2017

Jakub Janovský graduated from the Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts, in the studio of Jitka Svobodová. In 2011 he won the 2nd prize in the NG 333 Award. He is a part of the contemporary generation of young artists working with the medium of drawing.

His works are typical for motives connected with childhood, violence and cruelty, human mortality and a special sexual fetish. Drawings seem to be unrepeatable, unrecognizable, but the more they are beyond the edge of the emotional perception. The theme of family and anxious childhood he grabs very hardly, directly and sometimes even unpleasantly. He notices the dark rituals in the human community across all ages and cultures and displays them using the sarcasm, aggression and irony.
