Adam Štech

11/10/2017 - 23/10/2017

Adam Štech, the graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (studio of prof. Jiří Sopek and doc. Vladimír Skrepl), belongs to the generation of non-modern young painters, who confront historical development and old styles. In 2004 he received the Prize of the studio of Jiří Sopek and in 2011 he became a laureate of 4th Award of Criticism for Young Painting, submitted by the Association of Visual Critics and Theorists.

In his works, Štech draws from the historical legacy of classical painting, which he deconstructs and then re-composes in his own painting, but already in a different context and with shifted meaning. The result is juicy painted surreal paintings. His work is notably conceptual but also distinctly pictorial.

After a very short time, Adam Štech became a wanted author, both for collectors and curators of important group exhibitions.
